Spring 2014 Paper Goods, Part 3
Modern Floral Collection
Travel-obsessed as usual, I was searching through the home listings on one of those vacation rental sites when I found it: the perfect magical hideaway. It was a beautiful mid-century modern home nestled among tropical foliage in the Puerto Rican countryside. Lush, colorful trees, flowers, and vines encroached upon the neutral tones and clean, yet playful lines of the home. The combination was so charming.
That's what I had in mind when I designed our new Modern Floral collection.

These aren't quite living up to the "minimal" part of my minimal bohemian aesthetic, but I still love how they turned out.
The restraint in the color palette and the simple hand lettering does keep them from going too over-the-top. (At least that was my intent!)
I also wanted to do "floral" in a different way than I'd seen in the paper goods world. Florals are such a common motif -- and for good reason. Who doesn't love a good floral!? But I wanted to make sure that my florals were more than just another pretty floral addition to the world of paper. I wanted them to be fresh and modern. To stand out from the rest.
We did several different completely different versions of these designs over a period of several months before we landed on this particular look. (I'll have to show you some of the outtakes later.)
Thank you so much for following along! It's been quite the journey this past year as we've changed direction, and we couldn't have done it without you! Your words and encouragement mean so much! xo, Eva
p.s. I've got one more collection to introduce on the blog, and in case you missed them, read about the inspiration behind our Indigo collection (which was featured on Cup of Jo) and our Bright Brush collection.
